Communication with the angels is as simple as reading the words on this page. You possess all the necessary tools: 1) An open Heart, 2) The will to do it, 3) Awareness, and most importantly, 4) Gratitude. As do humans, the angels respond eagerly and willingly when we offer them our heartfelt gratitude for their help.

The simplest way to begin is by keeping an angel journal. It doesn't have to be fancy, a simple notebook will suffice. Make a point of dedicating it to them. Some people find it fun to select a special pen for use only with the journal. Find a quiet place in your home, light some candles, put on your favorite music and tell the angels you wish to write to them and have them respond to you in writing as well. Begin by heading your page, "Dearest Angels" and then start writing. Tell them your concerns, be specific when asking for answers or help with your problems. When you've finished with your letter, ask them to respond to you. Simply pause a few minutes, ask them for answers and when you feel the words coming into your heart, start writing. Do not pause to evaluate the words or to correct spelling or grammar errors. The angels typically will not use the same writing style you do nor will they use the same speech patterns. Do not be dismayed if at first you only receive a line or two. Simply write what you feel and always remember to thank them when you feel it's complete. In no time you will start to feel more comfortable with this method and you'll be amazed at all of the insight and information you'll be given.

A man was sleeping in his cabin one night when suddenly his room was filled with light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin.

The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might.

This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, Satan decided to enter the picture by placing doubts into the man's weary mind: "You have been pushing against the rock for a long time and it hasn't budged. Why kill yourself over this? You are never going to move it." He gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. Discouraged and disheartened, the man thought, "Why kill myself? I'll just put in my time, giving the minimum effort and that will be good enough."

And that was what he planned to do until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. "Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength in doing what you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock one inch. Why's wrong? Why am I failing?"

It almost goes without saying that our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by hurricane Katrina. The following story reminds me of the absolute power of prayer. I believe it is an appropriate illustration of what truly happens when we pray.

A missionary was serving at a small field hospital in Africa. Every few weeks he traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. His trip took two days, so he needed to camp overnight about halfway to his destination.

On one of his journeys to the city, he saw two men fighting, one of whom was seriously injured. He treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about salvation. He then traveled back home without incident.
